This is a Jeep I had in the late 60's though my version was a CJ (civilian) rather than this military version. The kit is the MPC version in 1/24. Because the kit is military it has some fun accessories, Thompson machine gun, carbine rifle, 50 cal machine gun and 105 recoilless rifle. Because this represents a service station vehicle those items are left off though they might be handy in traffic. When I got the Jeep it had a metal 1/2 cab which made dating interesting. While 4wheeling in the woods one day I found out why the spare is usually mounted in back. For this girl I figure I needn't worry about how close the trees are together. Someone may be molding a cab like this but it's pretty easy to fabricate. It would be in the finished category but I plan on making a battery charging unit and decals reading "John's DX service & lubritorium".

I knew a shop that had one exactly like this build.  A brighter red, but it did have a white cab like yours.  His had a snow plow on the front that he took off and on.

Neat build!

I like this a lot. There was one of these in my town when I was a kid, it was gray. I've often thought of doing a model like this, and "rodding" it a little. I'll be watching your build! B)

Great looking build. I remember seeing cabs like that one also. Man if you got a girl to go on a date with you in that you must be very appealing to the ladies. In the mid '60's I had three friends that all worked at another station. They all bought Army Surplus Jeep. They painted them all orange and used to crawl around the Fire Trails in the mountains. I got to go along for the price of some beer.

I think everyone remembers one of these!  There was a gas station on Route 36 in Belford, NJ that had a green one.  Plow permanently mounted on the front,  home made wood cab. The Jeep sat there long after the station went out of business.  I'll bet I have a photo somewhere.
