I don't want to open a can of worms, I've been reading along as you all post on here and it is really a lot of great info. My question is I have a touch up gun that I bought years ago and haven't used it. Would this style be ok to use for painting bodies or would an hvlp style be a better gun to use????

The one I have is similar to the photo below.....

Those guns work... ok, but you might find the pattern too heavy for small scale. If you can cut the fluid adjustment back far enough and still get a decent spray, you'll be alright. Most of that style had large tips, somewhere around 1.0 and up. Siphon feed guns like that tend to use more air (just because gravity plays no part in getting the product out of the gun) and usually require higher pressure at the air cap to properly atomize. Try it though, for kicks and giggles.

I bought those Iwata HP-TH airbrushes and love them.  One is for color and the other I use for just 2 part urethane clear.  If you go through Iwata Medea they're like $400 each.  I went through ebay and got them for less than half of that.  Took a couple of weeks because they came straight from Japan.

Amazon has them for $127.24.

I already have one in my shopping cart. ^_^

i've got one of the old pressure feed mini touch up gun and a couple of the gravity feed touch up guns from the body shop days that i used for striping and door jam work. My opinion they both work great for model work, just turn down the pressure and the fluid feed. A lot less delicate than an airbrush when it comes to cleanup. They are both worth the small cost u pay.
