I got started on re-building this old Galaxy yesterday. (it was one my boy did a long time ago) Got it stripped and sanded some, got the windshield frame fixed and dug through some boxes and found a set of original issue fender skirts. Their the old hard plastic.

Next problem was finding a 390 engine. I didn't like the ones that came w/ it, so I swiped one from the 60 ford kit. and started building it. Got valve covers from the 34 ford kit and an old ford air cleaner from one of the parts boxs. had to make a dip stick and vaccum advance for the distributor and got the boots on the plug wires.

Looks like it's comin out good Bill. But, if thats a manual trans would you need a vacum advance? Just askin.

The vacuum advance, advances the point timing ( I think)on start up and acceleration on both stick and autos. Oh well it looks better on there. I just got the distributor plug boots glued in place. Now it has to be painted and installed and the wires put on. I hate black engines. It's hard to see anything. :lol: :lol:

I salvaged that about 10 yrs ago and put it on the top shelves. There's junk there I haven't seen in yrs. Not too much left though.

The other 2 are some of the storage shelves :lol:

I gave them a coat of model-masters rust then brushed on some pastels (mixed to a dirty burnt orange) while it was still tacky.

I told you guys that there was a lot of dirt and dust on them. It'd take a month of sundays to clean them all up. :lol:

I had to put the ford on hold for a while (it seems I ran out of primer) But I did get the engine wired & plumbed and w/ some modifications to the chassis I managed to get it to sit right.

In the mean time I've been tryin to find all the parts for the 65 Plymouth fury and the monaco. I got the fury parts found (w/ much difficulty) , but still have to find the glass for the monaco. I did run into a prob w/ the dodge. It seems for some unknown reason I cut the grill out of it. I found another grill for it in an old parts box, but it' isn't the one I cut out????? Have no idea where or what it's from but it's a 65. All I have to do is make the chrome trim that goes around it and that'll be fixed.

Thanx for the detailed info on painting those exhaust manifolds, Bill. Gives them a really realistic look. Always a pleasure watching you work, so much so that I don't do enuff of my own, but my Fleetliner is slowly coming along--I'll be postin some pix soon.

(hey George, I used to wear them suits at work, so no problemo there--I'll just have to hook up with my former coworker, Andy, so's he can fix me up and I'll meet ya at Gramps.
