David was my first cousin.  You are correct he had polio and could not walk.  His dad was an auto mechanic and used a mechanics' roller board for David to move around on on his belly.  There was always the smell of Testor's paint and model glue in the air in t he house.  His fingers were badly deformed, and he basically used his knuckles and mouth to build his cars.  I can't really describe well the contortions and movement he did to work on intricately placed pieces.  It was just incredibly amazing what he could do with limited mobility in his limbs.  He was a smart, kind, person.  I think since he couldn't work on cars with his dad , this was the  next best thing he could do to connect.  Both his parents devoted their life to him.  Thanks for keeping his memory alive.

Thank you, Ed, for sharing that information with us. 

David was always a highly revered icon of the hobby in my mind. I always hoped - and strived - to achieve at least some minor degree of the accomplishments he demonstrated in his every model! I'm thankful our hobby had him for inspiration.
