Since it looks like it will be a few days until I can clear coat my 50 Ford P/U race team. I thought I'd start on this kit.

I've seen some models molded in and polished I thought I'd try that out and see what I thought. I like it. It buffed up nice and some of the other pieces I will still have to spray don't have to be as perfect as the body. Here's how it looks after a buffing with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, followed by Novus plastic polish.

This is another first for me.

It finally got nice enough that I could do a little painting and clear coating. I got to clear the Kurtis racer so I can finish my 50 Ford pick up race team build, so this kit will go on the sidelines for a day or two. Here's where it is for now.

This is a great kit. I built one 20 years ago. Loved it so much I found another one at a swap meet last month and grabbed it!  Working on the '37 Coupe right now as well.  Happy modeling!

Some progress.

Motor almost done.

With the trailer.

Chassis and motor mounted to the fenders.

I wasn't going to use the decals, but it was a lot of solid blue. The decals broke the blue up some.

Thanks. I had to scrap the decal off because it was so old it started looking funny once it dried. I found a nice double pinstripe that is red and yellow that would have looked good in another 37 Ford kit, but they were even older and just fell apart when I wet the. I will go on with this build, and check the aftermarket for something I can use.

Getting close. If I get a rainy day I'll be able to finish. I think I'm going to look for some resin luggage to load the trailer up, and not glue the body of the trailer so I could take it off and show the luggage,

A few more pictures. I wish I used more tan on the interior. It looks funny without a floor shift.

I got another set of decals from a member in a trade but they didn't work out so well either. I'm going to leave them on until I find something else.

Almost done.

The decals are from 95 and I guess the glue is funky. Maybe if it dries all white it won't look too bad.

Perhaps the polish is having an effect? Did you wax after the polish?

I used Meguiare's Ultmate Compound followed by by Novus # 1 because the body was had a lot of static and was a dust magnet. Do you think that caused the problem?

The body does have to be very clean, and free of

any kind of residue for the decals to fix!

Maybe try decal setting solution on them!?!

I used it when I put the decals on, and again after 24 hours. Thanks for the tip.

Trailer is done.

I had problems with the license plate decal not sticking on the corners, but a little Elmers glue handled that. I really wanted to use that one because it's kind of pretty.

I wouldn't think so. Novus is such a widely used product in modeling circles that if it would cause a problem with decals, we'd have heard of it before.

I think it's just old decals. .The sheet had 1995 printed on it on it, and who knows how the kit was stored. I've had some really old decals just fall into tiny little pieces when I tried to use them.

Thanks for the offer but I'll pass. I'm not wild about the colors on the decals so I'll keep my eyes open for something I like more then those.

If you find a set you do want from some kit or another,

post your want request.  I just might have them, and

again if you want I will send them to you!

That's good to know. I'll keep you in mind. Thanks.
