Lunajammer Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 (edited) Shamelessly ripped off from the Jalopy Journal, this is one of the most comprehensive diagrams I've found of how to section a 40's vintage vehicle. Taken straight from a book from the era. Edited April 10, 2017 by Lunajammer
Lunajammer Posted April 10, 2017 Author Posted April 10, 2017 And while I'm here, I think it's important to link this to Bernard Kron's thread here on chopping and sectioning a '40 Ford that was begun by Ed Fluck III. A good discussion with visuals from 2009.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 (edited) Look carefully at the hood and the body and think about the cuts. If you section the hood as shown, no way in hell it will fit the cowl (which wasn't sectioned). What needs to be done to fit the hood to the cowl (in this particular instance) is to trim the lower edge of the hood (leaving where it fits the stock-height cowl alone), to allow the fenders to move up relative to the body. misterNNL Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 (edited) The first set of photos looks like they sectioned a '46 Chevy. Thanks for posting this.I have run across a number of those old tutorials that can be very helpful to today's modelers including chopping those swoopy 40's tops.
