Gary66 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 (edited) I check the SAE forum a little every week, I don't post much over there(or here), but I do subscribe to both magizines. I spend most of my time on Randy's Nascar board but I feel more at home with the forum Fred Sudlow has (Fred's Resin Works) , mainly because I'm a short track race car guy and I fit in there better than anywhere else .Scale Racing Lobby is a lesser known short track board but has some great stuff on it too. I check the old Hobby Heaven board at least once a day and still post every once in awhile. I don't post much work on there anymore, and when I do I rarely get more than one or two responses, if that. I think most of the members there have never forgiven me for my part of the great box stock flame war back in 2000/2001 . My only problem, and I stress only problem, is that SAE banned Luke57 from their board for some less than understandable reasons. He'a real good friend of mine and I have a hard time feeling welcome where my friends get kicked around. Edited June 5, 2008 by Gary66

LUKE'57 Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Dang Luke 57, yu got Banned from SA Forum too? Man I'm living in High Cotton..... Scorched earth policy, Zeb. Like I never existed. Well, there was that one pic that got smuggled into the magazine a while back. Seems Superman ain't the only one with a secret identity.

Blue coyote Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Well, they haven't screwed up sending me their "newsletter" but I still can't log in or access the forums at all. I sent them a nice email asking them to remove me from their list, since I can't access the site anyway...
Rick Schmidt Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I've basically quit going thereI can't read half the posts without having to scroll Only suggestion I got was download Firefox One member say he even had to have it to see photobucet and SA. Well I don't need no Firefox to use my Bucket so I know it aint my comp its the Forum. I went there today out of boredom the layout and all got to me and I decided I'd rather be bored. I'll Just stay here and the few other places I go
Jello Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Some of us SA members just founded out that tons of files we put in saved or favorites from the old forum software are now byebye! They told us we could still access it but no luck so far....all that great stuff from 3 years now gone... Not everybody wishes to use Firefox and most can't anyways..they should of mention that before the changeover. "Just deal with it" is the only comment we got so far... ~ Jeff
Guest zebm1 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Hehehe, hey Jeff, wanna know wat we call folks like that down here? Back door sniffers - meaning: They's got their own noses stuck so far up their nether orifices, that ya can no longer even see their ears......which is why they ain't listening to yall..... Might be why they be so mad all tha time, imagine smelling tha same odeur all tha time.
Jello Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I hear ya Zeb! I actually had quite a few choice words to describe it myself but keep forgetting its a family forum but of course, I don't see any 'family' in it! Thanks for the laff! Its like a western ghost town in there now...after 3 & half years & 6,700 posts, I have never not even once seen that forum so quite and I stuck my neck out telling others to be patience while they 'fix' the problems and from the looks of it, that was a wrong move... Besides common sense vanishing, it appears that the word Loyalty is gone too... Oh well, these changing times eh? ~ Jeff
Aaronw Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Hey, Jeff any chance of dragging old Mike K "the mad doctor" over here? I miss his wild builds and the tales that go with them. I used to be able to pop over to SAE and check out his stuff but the new forum is really terrible to navigate.
Jello Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Hey, Jeff any chance of dragging old Mike K "the mad doctor" over here? I miss his wild builds and the tales that go with them. I used to be able to pop over to SAE and check out his stuff but the new forum is really terrible to navigate. I been trying to get him over here and he is a member but for some reason or the other, he just don't feel too comfortable in here... He is not happy with the new forum either and we do exchange emails all the time...this forum would have a blast with him in here! I would feel really much better if he was here and right now, I'am slowly getting to know everybody in here and not trying to step on any toes yet! Mike would really bring a lot to the table in this forum. The both of us have great senses of humor which is not appreciated by 'you know who' over 'there'. I'll keep trying... ~ Jeff
lordairgtar Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Uh huh.... The editor talks all about his son being brought into the hobby, and yet, the editor BANS a member who asked people to say a prayer for his son who has cancer.... And people wonder why I quit buying their rag, quit the forum, and talked to my LHS, contacted Model Car Magazine, and told them that my LHS wants their magazine instead! Now my LHS carries MCM only. As far as I'm concerned, the "SA editor" can teach his "son" how to make people miserable! I posted an E-prayer on the site for someone with a sick kid and it got deleted. I was told the forum was no place for that stuff. Also, at Milwaukee NNL, I introduced myself with my online name and JH says "I know exactly who you are" in a very condescending voice.

Oh well, these changing times eh? ~ Jeff Jeff Ya move wasn't wrong It is a very good idea but When everybody keeps saying that the users need to fix the issues Instead of the Admin fixing it, it makes it hard to enjoy. I got used to the navigating it and all its that dang issue with the large pics hiding behind ads the size of a truck. I can't read half the posts because of that. If I can't read the posts and no one at the wheel seems to care I can't enjoy the place. If and when The figure out why we keep having huge pictures that hide behind the ad and fix it I'll go back to posting there. Until then I have here and other places to post in
Guest zebm1 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 In my Humble opinon, each Forum no matter tha subject, starts out with a cliche' that always seems to act as if they are "the original owners." New folks come in and run into "tha club", get offended, build up bad memories and move on to other forums looking for more openess and respect for their differences until they find a Forum they can live with. I call it "maturity and respect" for other views as regards our modeling hobby. Take for instance, those who like to customize Herses, coffin cars.....not something I'd ever consider doing, but I find it interesting and kind of original. Or as another example, in the Short-track stock-car modeling world, briefly covered by the previous poster. Fred Sudlow's Resin World Forum {as an aside, Fred is having a very intense emotional family problem, his son (in his 30s) has been diagnosed with a very severe cancer and is not expected to live much longer - ifn yall have any extra prayers or thoughts -well yall know tha drill} and Scale Racing Lobby. One Forum doesn't allow resins from other casters - your post will be Deleted, and tha other Forum don't care. Both websites make excellent castings, I've bought from both. BTW, ifn any of yall are into Flatheads or more esoteric engines, Ron Royston of SRL has started a new resin casting business called Early Years Resins...so cruise on over to Scale Racing Lobby Home page and scroll down to tha bottom, you find tha link. J&S Resins is now doing tha old JNJ Hobbies cars for any of yall that are interested, and somewhere in tha background is ERC. Fred also has some excellent products as well. That's my Good and Fair Deed for tha Day. MCM feels as though it has matured some since last year, which I find to be all Good for tha Forum and tha Hobby, Keep it Up Yall.
Joe Nunes Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I have to admit that originally I really looked forward to visiting and posting on SA forum. Went there most every day...sometimes multiple times per day. Noticed it going downhill though and when they changed to the new forum format my enthusiasm went downhill with it. Don't think I've posted there since it changed. The new format is not user friendly, does not appeal to my visual senses, and I don't care for the "in your face ads". As for JH and his attitude...if he bites the hand that feeds him then I, for one, will decide to not bring the "feed bucket". When my current SA subscription runs out I'll not be going that route anymore. If there's something of real interest in the mag I can pick it up at the LHS (an excuse to check out the new models ...). These forums should be about having fun and enjoying the comradre of fellow modelers...and as far as I'm concerned this Model Cars forum is where the real fun is! Happy building!!
