kelson Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 The chassis is unpainted, but I used flat aluminum and steel on the engine with a light wash of vallejo blackwash.
kelson Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 The suspension parts were painted using cast aluminum and metallic silver.
kelson Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 The brakes were painted metallic silver and red on the calipers.
kelson Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 The body in Tamiya white primer, before choosing a color I googled the car and found one that was painted Lemans blue with a Bordeaux interior and decided i'm going to copy that using Tamiya TS-51 racing blue and using Tamiya Maroon for the interior.
kelson Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 The body was painted a couple days ago, just letting it dry, next update will be on the interior and the rest of the suspension.
iamsuperdan Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Love that it's not going to be red! Excellent colour choice!
XJ6 Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Looking Good, Ferrari Great choice. Good luck, keep my eye out on this one
Xingu Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 That blue should look sharp out in the sun. Curious to see how your interior color looks as I am getting ready to start on a model with a dark red interior and cannot decide on what color to use.
kelson Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 (edited) Thanks everyone for the comments, and I agree iamsuperdan no red Ferrari's if I can avoid it,the rest of the suspension all painted and put together. Edited May 6, 2017 by kelson
kelson Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Okay,on to the interior,i airbrushed the seats and tonneau cover Maroon over a white primer so they are a little bright.
kelson Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Also I have attached the suspension to the chassis,no issues to report, also added the tires and wheels,so far so good.
kelson Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 A couple pictures of the interior,i airbrushed Maroon and mixed in a little black paint to give a darker interior, but I think it may be to dark!...opinions?
Twokidsnosleep Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Love the blue paint, excellent choiceHave seen a real F355 up close and personal in deep blue with a blue convertable top...real sharp and yet a touch subtle
kelson Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Okay the speedometer decal wasn't going to fit into the dash,so i used a small piece of.010 sheet styrene glued over top the dashboard then applied the decal.
kelson Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Okay dashboard is complete,i used a small dab of future to cover the Ferrari emblem.
kelson Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Just doing a minor mockup to see how the interior looks put together.i took some of these pics with my flash on so seats look extra bright.
kelson Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Last update for today, just a mockup to see how the chassis/body fit and added the tonneau cover, hoping to be able to clearcoat soon, but it's been really windy here.
Funkychiken Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Interesting colour combo! I like seeing builds that are different to the norm...
kelson Posted May 8, 2017 Author Posted May 8, 2017 Small update for today, interior is now completely done,i used matte aluminum bmf for the shifter console and i painted the shifter duplicolor chrome:
kelson Posted May 8, 2017 Author Posted May 8, 2017 When applying the license plate decals i realized to late that the plate holders are to small, and the decals crinkled when i used decal setting solution,so i stripped the plates and added small strips of .015x.020 styrene all along the edges to avoid any future issues.I was also able to clear the body on the weekend,so i won't have any updates for a bit.
