935k3 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 (edited) A new lap record was set at Nurburgring. The car is total electric with a motor and transmisson at each wheel. The acceleration is incredible as is how smooth it drives. The driver was Peter Dumbreck who famously flipped a Mercedes twice at the 99 Lemans .Onboard video is here Record Breaker Edited May 17, 2017 by 935k3
Draggon Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Well isn't that something. Dumbreck did a good job too, he was so smooth the in-car looked slow. A buddy of mine got a new C-Max hybrid last week. The thing is a rocketship. Definitely faster than a 5.0 Mustang I had, at least to 70. I think someone should make a car sound app or something for these electrics, so we could hear some vroom-vroom noises from the drivers seat.

Pretty common now, here is a lino to Popular Mechanics talking about fake engine sounds http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/a7923/the-rise-of-the-fake-engine-roar-11291754/ Even the Lexus line includes it on one of the top selling current models, the NX https://www.cars.com/articles/what-does-this-button-do-inside-the-lexus-rc-200t--1420684960970/
935k3 Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) The fake engine noises are also to alert pedestrians there is a car coming. Edited May 18, 2017 by 935k3
dublin boy Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Stephan Bellof still holds the fastest lap at 6 mins 25.91 (as far as I know) in a Porsche 956....
Brett Barrow Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Stephan Bellof still holds the fastest lap at 6 mins 25.91 (as far as I know) in a Porsche 956.... This is the fastest by a road-legal production car.
