HotRodaSaurus Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Why? because every day I check in here I look in the under glass and on the work bench headings. I see great builds, not all my scene but you are building. All my models, made and half builds are tucked away in storage till the day I can get back to work on them. Why?well I have ust started a new relationship and we dont have the room. Any model pics I post here are from my archives. What would I give to get that smell of acrylic in my nostrils, and that glue tube back in my sweaty hands I have my Holy Grail of the moment(Tamiya Tyrell, Jakie Stewart car) and I just cant build it till we move house. AAAAAAAAAAGGGHHH Highly frustrated, John

AAAAAAAAAAGGGHHH Highly frustrated, John Admit it, the new GF doesn't like you to have a hobby that takes time away from her. My GF likes my hobby and me. She even buys me stuff to surprise me. Always make sure the one you love is someone you like, and she, you.
samdiego Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 (edited) Not to start a debate, but I've always considered The Flying Scotsman the greatest of all time. Unbelievable car control. Women or cars, Women or cars, . . . hmmm . . . I filled the gas tank today, I don't have a coin left to flip! Edited June 5, 2008 by samdiego
Jello Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Rule #1, find a GF or wife that knows you need the time away from ...ummm "doing your job" and your model building is a very important part of your life and you need to smell the paint fumes every once in awhile! Also, support her hobby really helps you more than you will know! Rule #2, see rule #1 and everything will work out just fine! ...Hmmmmm, come to think of it, that explains why I'am divorced and never been on a date since... ~ Jeff
HotRodaSaurus Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 To be honest she is a great girl and we do do many things we both enjoy together. There seriously is no room for lal my bits n pieces. Then again the only trouble I have ever had in my life seem to involve omen and wheels, even if they are only 1/25
abedooley Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Very true about supporting your womans hobby. She loves to scrap book and every time I go out and buy something for my hobby I try to buy something for hers! It works until I forget about her. She still picks at me and makes fun sometimes, but its all in fun and I do the same to her. Everything else we do together and with the boys. It really is stress reducer. Sometimes its just nice to get in that zone and not look back! Now that I've thought about it -I've even cut down on my meds since I started doing models again.

Well she did suprise me when she bid way over the top for, and won a mint unmade Jo-Han 59 Cadillac I had been outbid on, the Bay. She knew I wanted it but would bid no more. I did treat her to a trip to Paris though. One thing I do miss about building is that I put 100% concentation into it, meaning I did not think or talk work. That way I have a complete free evening thinking about things I like to do, radio or TV in the background, scalpel at the ready, now lets sort that side trim on the AMT 58 Chev. When I was at my workbench stress just didn't exist J

Hi George, yes petrol/gasoline is expensive over here around £1.16 per Ltr! thats getting on for $2.25. I actually went by the good old EuroStar train, 3 hrs London to Paris, its not worth driving, you can evan work it as a day trip! Also parking in Paris central is around $50 per day in a car park, you wont find many street parking spaces and nothing that big so anything bigger than a 2CV and your stuck. I did drive once and thought I would stop by in Paris(I was visiting a French swapmeet) and parked underneath the Avenue Foch. That is the most expensive street in Paris. A 1/4 mile long underground car park with row upon row of stored cars under dust sheets, Ferrari's, Mercedes 600 Pullman, 300SL and more. I thought I had entered a private car storage area, "no" the attendant assured me, this was normal for the Avenue Foch. No photo's though for security reasons If you ever get the chance to go , grab it while it's hot ,you will love it, and the Mrs will love you forever. Even if she does already Thanks, John Ps, The Jo-Han Cadillac is for building! she does not understand the collector scene andwould not have bought it otherwise

I wouldn't mind living in England or Europe. My wife saved all my models from the flood at the sacrifice of most of her books without even asking or hesitating ,,, Mine's best ,, I win. wow, tell her she's awsome..........heck for me to!
