As I stated last week or so I had started on a 70 Road Runner,62 Plymouth and a 66 Nova..Finally got to wet sand the Nova..The paint is bomb from a 2006 Chrysler, Silver Steel Metallic..Years ago I used the same color on a Sunbeam..Didn't how much metallic..This Nova after I wet sanded and polished it looks like metalflake..The fleck is too large..I don't want to start over but maybe do another body/hood in a different color..Don't have polished picture but only before polish..What should  I do? Paint is like glass and I've put in too many hours wetsanding an polishing to just give up..Do I swallow my pride and build it or do I paint another?

There are three things you can do.

1. Learn to love it. It's not a '66 factory color, so it's not like it's "inaccurate." Lean into it.

2. Strip it and start over with some other paint.

3. You can flat-coat it, which will cut the sparkle back to the level of a normal metallic. Now you might think you can do this, and lay some clear gloss over top of that to bring back the shine, but when you do, all the sparkle and flakiness will return, just as before. I know this because I had the same situation not long ago and tried it myself.

I wish I had a GOOD solution to your problem. Perhaps someone else will.

Snake, I went down stairs to have my shower and looked at it in normal light and put it on the display shelf..It looks okay..I'am going to leave it..Works well in the case with my other models and doesn't look out of place..Thanks for your suggestions...

Liking it the way it is best, but should you change your mind you could give it a light coat of Tamiya TS-71 Smoke. Smoke is a lightly tinted clear which would make your Silver color darker but would tone down the Metal Flake look. I usually use it to make a dark tint or windows.
