Mixalz Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Hi all,I have just opened my 1972 AMT Stingray. This will be my first American car. Problem is I can't find a store locally that stocks MM/Testors Chevy Engine Red. Does anyone have any alternative brands in mind? I've done a fair go of searching but I'm not finding much. Cheers
Xingu Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 I just went to the local automotive parts store and bought a large can of engine paint. Just research the right color, there are a couple of choices.

Snake45 Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Chevy Engine Red is a brilliant red-orange. Maybe you can find a generic red-orange that would work. Or, if you're airbrushing, just mix some bright red and some orange and you're there.I've used the big cans of real-car Chev Engine Red on kit engines. No problems with them being too hot, but I find they go on a bit thick and a bit too shiny, giving a not particularly realistic look. Best way to use them is to lay on several very light coats, which gives a thinner and a slightly pebbly appearance that looks good on an engine.

BubbaBrown Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Scale Finishes has engine paint in 1 or 2 ounce sizes for Chevy , Mopar , etc.
