Tim H Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 Anyone have a source for the proper colors for the Pontiac Rally II wheels? I am aware of the right colors are available for the 1:1 scale, Through Ames Performance and Eastwood. ( maybe the same stuff). I don't really need a 16oz can of it. So any other source Tamaya, testors, Etc for the colors.ThanksTim
Snake45 Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 They might not be 100% correct, but I paint them with a dark gray such as (military) Gunship Gray, Panzer Gray, or Euro 1 Gray for the dark parts, and a flat aluminum for the light parts. These colors look good in scale. You DON'T want black for the dark color, or chrome for the spokes. You want some kind of dark gray and a flat silver color. If you want, you could make a more accurate dark color by mixing some flat or semigloss black into Testor Steel. The much-missed old Pactra Steel was a great color, but the Testor Steel is much lighter--not much darker than their Aluminum.

Testors flat aluminum is also a pretty close match to Chevy's "argent" as used on the old steel Corvette rims and the paint that Chrysler used on its rallye wheels.
StevenGuthmiller Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 A dark metallic gray is what you really want for the background color.A medium metallic silver will work for the spokes. The colors are metallic on my '69 Grand Prix. Steve
espo Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 While on the dark side , I have used Tamiya XF-56 Metallic Grey. It is a flat color and a touch of Semi Gloss makes it about right. Their Titanium Silver X-32 is another option on the lighter side. It has a gloss finish and you may again want to use a little Semi Gloss on it also.
