Rocking Rodney Rat Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) I bought a set of AMT "rat rod" graphics from an eBay seller. I opened the package this morning to find it's actually just a photocopied sheet of paper of the decal set. I have sent a massage to this joker and am awaiting a reply. This is the first time I have ever had this happen on eBay. -RRR Edited September 13, 2017 by Rocking Rodney Rat
Jordan White Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Got a picture of what you received? I'm looking at the listing and it looks legit. Does it look exactly like the listing and look like it wasn't tampered with in any way? Could be an error on Round 2's part.
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 yeah, I have been communicating with the seller. He refunded me my money $5.25 including shipping, I guess if it sounds too good to be true it is. He claims he bought the item from Hobby Lobby and thinks it might have been a "demo" or "sample" set of decals that got put on the shelf in the store. I dunno about that....
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 So, heres a picture. Looks like a sheet of decals. I cut out a pair I was going to send to ADL for a pickup he is working on that he and chopped when I was out his way a few years ago...It's not a sheet of decals, it's a color photocopy. Strange... -RRR
Jordan White Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 I can't tell from the picture, but what sort of paper is it? Is it just like your standard printer paper, or could it be decal paper that hasn't had the coating applied to it to make the decals?
Xingu Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 If he refunded your money, I wouldn't call him a fraud. He might just be someone who didn't know what he was selling. I have run into a few of those in the past.
M1ks Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Look at the guys feedback and trading history.1243 positive feedbacks, no negs or neutral within the last 12 months, 20+ pos feedback in the last month alone, AND he's refunded you in full, no quibbles.I'd say honest mistake which has been rectified at no loss whatsoever to you.Maybe you should take the post down or edit it, it seems somewhat unfair to tar him with a bad trader brush.Truth be told, that looks to me like a decal sheet and if you didn't notice yourself till you cut out some of the 'non' decals then it's even more likely he thought they were genuine decals and as another poster said, they could have been a printing error where the film wasn't applied.
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) You guys are most likely correct. I changed the title of the thread to remove "fraud" and removed the sellers name. It now appears this item was never meant to be sold. There is no bar code on the back of the cardboard holder (can't get pic to load). There is a square where the bar code should be that says "BAR CODE GOES HERE". The paper is just standard old printer paper, not decal paper at all, thin and flimsy. The seller said the item was on the "discount table" at Hobby Lobby. No wonder, it shouldn't have been sold. Must be a 'sample' AMT would use to show potential resellers what the product will look like. How it ever got on the shelf and sold is a mystery. In any case, I'm mailing the whole thing to Round 2 with a letter. I'll most likely never hear back. I bit the bullet and ordered (what I hope is) a real set of these decals today.... -RRR Edited September 13, 2017 by Rocking Rodney Rat
