Started this one last month and I need to hurry up and make the deadline for it! Here's my attempt at a 57 Ranchero. Found some inspiration from this one below.  Here's my take on it.

I started with a JF body. After a lot of sanding and a big mess I got it to where I was comfortable. After some primer and a some red paint, its starting to look like it's on its way.  Also started fitting the bed cover from a sheet of styrene. Pegasus steelies to save the day.  More work on the engine coming up.

Nice looking Ranchero. Are going to try the panel paint treatment from the picture? This should look great with the bed cover.

Thank you guys.

@espo I want to. I don’t access to my air rushes where I’m at so I might have to try it with spray cans. Still trying to decide.

@High octane you and I both, bud.

Some time back I saw an article on the technique that you would use to do the panel painting. The subject was the custom multicolored paint jobs found on some Top Fuel Dragsters. The article showed how to mask and spray just using spray can paints. I wish I could offer you more information than that but maybe with a little research you could find the article and see if that would work for you. I think this would look good either way.

yeah! I think I k ow which one you’re talking about or at least a similar one. It showed a dragster with maybe 5 or 6 colors from front to back. I’ll have to look for it.  It might help.

This is going to be ace!

I haven't ventured into resin, yet. But seeing what you've got there, makes me want to try it out.

The photo inspiration, looks like something Larry Watson would've done. I love this style !

Maybe cut some slots in card and spray through, for a fade edge, then tidy up the outer edges with tape and a few coats of colour, to give the panels definition.

Or you could just go solid, with a contrasting pinstripe around the panel edges...

Either way, it deserves a wild paint job
