my80malibu Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Hello, I am looking for ideas, and advice on how to enhance the Rear quarter panel trim on My Revell 53 Belair hard top. I am specifically speaking of the gravel guard on the front of the rear fender under the actual Belair script. These are very shallow in the engraving. Thanks,Gabriel.
misterNNL Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 That trim piece on the real cars protected an area that was prone to rock and gravel damage common in that era. It would have been either polished stainless or chrome steel. Using bare metal foil should work.
oldnslow Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 I'm going through the same torture , I've decided to rescribe the panel very slowly and lightly to get better detail , probably have to go over it a dozen times , then after paint bare metal foil .
randyc Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 You might be able to scrape some material away from the area outside of the trim with an x acto knife to define it a little better. Remove a little and rescribe the edge. Then some foil if you use foil.
