Has anyone ever come across these? I never heard of Masterkit Models before (a Brasilian company, apparently, which is evident from the Portuguese writing on the boxes)... I just came across the Rolls Royce for sale, but the seller wants 40 euros for it and I'm not sure what to make of it... Is it a Minicraft/Entex rebox or something completely different? How about the other two? I have the Italeri Mercedes, which is a great kit, so not too excited about that one, but that Triumph sure is interesting... They are the only car kits in 1/24 scale I could find (there are also planes and other kits out there), so any info on these would be appreciated, even though they really do smell like Entex... Thanks in advance :)

My bad, wasn't reading the post correctly. Thought you meant you had compared the kit to the Italeri and they were the same. Now I see you mean you have the Italeri (which I've got and yes its a good one) so you weren't interested in the 300SL.

Yes Hubley did one and its a curbside that doesn't come close to the Italeri.

Now if they do come out with a Renault Dauphine or Metropolitan, I will take a couple more of both of those. The Ford 4 dr sedan wouldn't be bad either. But after this many years, pretty sure those have went to that great scrap heap in the sky.

They are the old promo based Hubley kits. If you look at the baseplates, you'll still find Hubley's authorisation disclaimer
engraved. The Silver Cloud was in fact the only promotional model ever commissioned by that company.

The Brazilian Masterkits where made somewhen in the Eighties, presumably after Revell AG did their run.
They have since been reissued by Academy/Minicraft several times, I think the Royce and Trummy are even current,
which may, or may not indicate that we finally lost the 300SL as well.

It's always the same three ruddy kits, so presumably all the other tools are long gone anyway.

Mind you, the kits weren't any good even by late Fifties standards and the mould separation lines have suffered since.
Ironically they are among the longest running kits in styrene history.

I have the Masterkit Rolls in that exact box.  According to my handy Excel spread-sheet, I paid $10 for it at a KCI kit swap meet in Buena Park, CA.  Didn't note the date, as I usually do, but it was a long time ago.  So 40 Euros sounds...quite a bit high.

Also have one of these in the Minicraft box.  I think I had some nutty idea to hack them apart and make a stretch limo. Or maybe a hearse.

One of the more fun builds I've seen of these kits:  somebody turned one into a low-rider convertible.  Someone else...maybe on this board...built one rusting in the Nevada desert, with bullet holes in the trunk lid and a skeleton in the trunk.

Quite coïncidentally; I ran accross such an exact kit for the exact price on a local Dutch website: https://link.marktplaats.nl/m1210192082

Even though I never heard of Masterkit, I know it is a very old Minicraft/Revell etc.. kit, not at all worth the money. 15 should be the max for it.

As a matter of fact, that is the very ad I was referring to ;)

In case you're wondering, I lived in Holland for many years and still have an address there, so I shop on Marktplaats quite a bit.

It's a great place. One can find nice kits for a good price... Not in this case, it seems, however :P

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Those are not real quality quits, just reboxed kits from other manufacturers done under licence.

There were some great quality kits under the Revell-KIKO trademark, that was in fact a joint venture between Revell and a local toy maker. The kits were almost all WWII aircraft.

A curiosity: The first kit injected in Brasil was the AMT 1959 Ford. The molds were sold to a toy manufacturer Troll, and the kits were made for a few years. Then, the molds changed hands, and vanished into some shed or deposit never to be seen again.

Have you ever owned the Troll '59 Ford kit, Tulio? I'd love to see the box art.

ETA: Was it the hardtop or the convertible?

I thought so, but since you weren't even near The Netherlands, I wasn't sure.

But I agree, one can find nice kits on Marktplaats for nice prices, sometimes. Other times, they think that eBay prices are leading and think they can ask that....

One has to keep an eye on it and find good buys.

I think I've seen the box for it, but it could be the 59 Buick. It's been a very long time, but as I remember it looks like the 3 in 1 box we got but the dimensions are different, it's more like a flat box.

Now if they come out with a Renault Dauphine or a '62 Ford Country Sedan... yeah right;)

I would love a dauphine kit.....my first car......
