Hey guys this is kind of advanced for me but hey....its just plastic right?Anyway it is a re-release of the old tried and true (sort of) Amt 1957 Chevy Bel-Air.This is the Boyd Coddington rendition.Im building it my style which is to say youll either love it or hate it.Wheels will be 23" (I hear the gasps already)Pegasus Chrome Ts.Paint will be Testors One Coat Lacquer

Diamond Dust (silver) and House Of Kolor Orion Silver. The Testors will be applied in a "ghost Flame".Anyway here are the pics.

Advanced or not, it's cool that you are jumping right in there and it looks excellent so far! As for wheels size, it's not that bad since theyre tucked up under there. What is your plan for the chassis?

WELL.....LOL.I dont really know as of yet.Im keeping the entire front part all the way back to the part where the rear begins to angle up.Then I want to make the frame fit the 23"s.I know in theory how to do it but Ive never tried it on a model. The molded in exhaust that I removed will be (hopefully) replaced with aluminum/plastic tubing. If you or anyone else has a suggestion PLEASE post pics. Thanks for looking.Later.

I really like the body work you got going on it- the shaved trim and molded lights are really going to set it off.

That's the fun part- jumping into the deep end of the pool and finding out what happens.

You might try using solder instead of plastic or aluminum tubing for the exhaust. It's much easier to form AND you don't have to paint it to get a realistic metallic look!! You can also use aluminum tubing over the solder to create "Cherry Bomb" type mufflers.

Also, I used the Pegasus 23" T's on my 58 Impala, but went with narrowed 19" T's in the front. That combination fit better for me and helped get the stance the way I wanted it.

very nice. I think the paint didnt stick were the buble is. Happened to me before too. Ur motor looks great. Cant wait to see more

Well actually I washed it and thought it was dry but there must have been a lil water right there and the primer bubbled it up.No big deal actually it sanded right down.Im hoping to have the body painted by Friday.Also....those of you that have built this kit before know there is no hinge for the hood.Could someone post a link to a thread showing ways to do that.I know its been covered before. Thanks for looking and keep your eyes open.Later.

Im officially mad. This is one of the reasons I stopped modeling so long ago.I painted it with House Of Kolor Orion Silver and dang it......orange peel and now it shows the trim that I thought I got rid of....I want to toss this thing man. Here are some pics....

Oh wait....I wasnt going to leave it just this color.I WAS going to apply some ghost flames using this as the flame color and the Testors One Coat Lacquer as the real color....scratch that.Im so dissapointed.

PICS.

100_1458.jpg

100_1458.jpg

I REALLY dont understand why this happened.....The primer coats showed NO evidence of the trim. And I tried my hardest to meet the requirements of the paint.Sucks man....REALLY sucks.I dont know what Im going to do now...IF I soak this thing in Easy-Off.......will all the putty come off too?AGGGGHHHHHHHH..........
