Bobchayer Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 1903 Cadillac, 1/16 scale. Kit manufactured in 949 by Hudson Miniatures Old Timers, Scranton, Penna. It has plastic wheels and tires, soft and hard balsa wood, cardstock, steel wire, and cast lights and steering wheel. Flat brass wire was substituted for cardstock springs. Odds and ends from left over parts.
ChrisBcritter Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Real pretty Caddy, Bob! From what I understand, putting one of these together was one step above scratchbuilding.
El Caballo Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Wait, 1949? Is that the oldest model on this website?
bbowser Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Really well done, especially considering what you started with. Thanks for sharing.
Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 1949!? Wow. Nice job on a true collectors item. Luxurious for its time but getting in and out of the back seats couldn't have been too pretty.
Eric Macleod Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 That is excellent. What did you do for paint to get it so shiny over paper or cardboard?
Bobchayer Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 Thanks for the comments. I used Futura floor polish applied with a Q-Tip.
John Goschke Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Wow, that's amazing. So great to see a build of this vintage kit.
