71_Sears
I just picked up my second 1978 Ford Firestone kit and I'd like to build it into a regular long bed. I remember seeing a thread or post somewhere with the details on how one guy modified the bed sides but I can't seem to find it. Any help finding this information is greatly appreciated! I copied your work on my stand wheel base longbed and all is well with the first side so far. Now just to find another left inside bed side. Maindrian Pace
Sure thing. Be sure to show us your work, can never get too many '73-'79s here.
Mercuryman54
I picked these up a couple years ago. They were at the Hoosier Model Car Association swap meet. I don’t recall the vendor, but he did the masters and cast them. They’re the 8ft beds. He didn’t have the 6ft yet. I haven’t seen him there since. Dennis That was probably Blue Oval Resin, he used to offer these beds and some cabs too. Don't think he is in business anymore.
Mercuryman54
May have been. This guy had mastered and cast stuff for Dodge and Chevy also. Dennis

My plans are to make a correct 78 F-150 or F-250 4x4 standard longbed. I've built one of the Firestone kits as a 1977 F-250 Highboy 4x4. I also have a 1973-75 F-350 but it needs a front grille. Got it from my uncle missing the grille. My uncle is an avid modeler himself with over 400 models so modeling runs in the family. I am going to paint the one I'm working on now Phoenician yellow and metallic brown down the middle like the inspiration picture. I'll have a separate thread when I get enough work done to post. Maindrian Pace
That'll be a really nice build.
