Casey Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 (edited) Has anyone used or at least mocked up the Revell Cadillac Lowrider Coupe kit with the spoked wheels from the '80s issue Monogram 1/24 '32 Ford Roadster kit? IIRC the Goodyear GT Radial tires in the Monogram kit are 14", so the wheel could pass for 15" on the 1/25 scale Cadillac kit. Maybe they don't have enough spokes to pass the eye test, though? I can't think of any other bi-scale kits with full spokes that are "modern" enough to pass for stock on an '80s/'90s Cadillac. Edited January 13, 2018 by Casey
martinfan5 Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 (edited) I wonder if those would work on the soon to be released Olds Cutlass for the ones that had wire wheels( aka hubcaps) Edited December 4, 2017 by martinfan5
mike 51 Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 (edited) They look like 50s Buick wires or Tru-spokes from the era the kit was made. They appear to be 15 inchers and would be taller than the modern 14 inch wheels Revell has made the last few years. They also don't look like hubcaps at all. Sorry I can't think of any the resemble what your looking for..... Edited December 4, 2017 by mike 51

randyc Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 I did this build recently and could not find anything that really passed for stock Caddy wire wheelcovers. The Kelsey Hayes wheels in the 62 T bord (AMT) or something like that might pass. Or if ou are going for a "day 2" type build with aftermarket wheels, the 32 ford wheels should work. Too much "peak" in the wheels to pass for a wheelcover. I would like to see those wheel under the Caddy though. I ended up using 56 Ford wheelcovers on mine to give a somewhat stock disc look. Wish I had some wires for this and for the Cutlass. Wish Revell would see fit to tool up a Mainstream Cutlass with wires... Or something, someone could make a set of 3d printed generic wires. Like Fireball Models, maybe... he could pull that off.

Your Wanted post is what got me thinking, then after some research I found there were few to no options, as most of the spoked wheels are too deep, as you mentioned. 9 hours ago, Perspective Customs said: Have you considered these: No, didn't know they existed, so I might look into them, thanks. I just wanted to find out if there was anything available in a kit which would come close to passing for stock wheel covers on the Cadillac.
Casey Posted January 13, 2018 Author Posted January 13, 2018 (edited) With an indirect assist from Chris Brame, IMHO these are the closest thing to stock Caddy spoked wheel covers in kit form. Until I find or see something better, I'm off to find some 75-series '80 radials. Edited January 13, 2018 by Casey
