fumi Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 (edited) Nice work. I think old school 14" wheels fit it best, the Fujimi Panasports or their newer 3-piece Mark II and Techno Phantom wheels are quite nice. I particularly like the 3-piece wheel as it makes painting the wheel faces a breeze, and you get extra wheels and tires as Fujimi threw in enough parts for different big-and-little and camber combinations. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10074897 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10179377 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10179376 On 12/7/2017 at 7:32 PM, peekay said: I've often wondered if this car was named after the small-ish New Zealand town of Levin. Sounds unlikely - but in the 50s and early 60s there was a race track there which was part of the annual Formula 1 Grand Prix tour. The twins were named Levin and Trueno. The Corolla got a lightning and the Sprinter got a thunder. Edited December 29, 2017 by fumi

I had four Toyota Corolla coupes at one time in Taiwan years ranging from 1971 to 1974 and I simply loved them. They were all 1166 cc.. Picked the best of the lot and restored it. Never knew there was a kit. Immediately bought two on ebay and one on Amazon. I'll be watching your build closely. Hi, did you end up building these Toyotas and printing the dashes? I’d love to see
Kenmojr Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 Looks cool. Was this sold in North America as a Corolla? What era is it from. Looks like early 1980s to me. Despite my daily driver being a 2016 Toyota Corolla S, I know very little about Corollas. This is my 3rd Toyota Corolla, earlier cars were 74 Celica and 76 Landcruiser.

This body style is early '70's, yes it was sold as a Corolla. My buddy had a killer SR5 back in the day w/the same factory flares. He'd painted it light metallic blue, not a factory Toyota color (he told me the color awhile back but I forgot). I built the kit at least 20 years ago. I converted it (fairly easy) to LHD. 1
Casson16 Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Hi, Do you have any pics or further info on how you converted to LHD ? Im just getting back to into the hobby after about 25 years...so my skills are both A) rusty, and B ) limited.

I’d love to see I'm also thinking of sanding off and filling the vents on the rear quarter panels. I dont believe those were on the American versions either. Or if they were, they looked a little different. Did anyone else encounter this?

When done I'll send you one if you want. Just about to start this kit; and I haven't had any luck finding a lefthand dash - hopefully you sign back on here soon, would love to discuss !
