KenC Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 What prompted the Bob Peck Chevrolet reference on the Nova? Hadn't heard of that dealer for quite a while. It was a dealer at the corner of Wilson Blvd and Glebe Road in Arlington, VA (my home town) in the 1960's - 1970's. Nice work - great models.

Thanks Mark and Ken! Ken, I was looking for a Washington state based Chevy dealer from the period. There's a town about 50 miles northeast of Seattle, where I live, on the eastern slopes of the Cascade mountains, called Arlington, which has always had a fair number of big auto dealers - Seattleites have often gone there for a "good deal". I Googled Arlington Chevrolet dealers and came up with the image of the Bob Peck Chevy dealership below, with its classic mid-century architecture, and thought it would be ideal for my decal scheme. Unfortunately I failed to notice I was off by one letter in the alphabet, and an entire continent! Edited January 9, 2018 by Bernard Kron

Unfortunately I failed to notice I was off by one letter in the alphabet, and an entire continent! That's the place! My dad used to take me there to see the new models every September. There was a chain link fenced in area in the back where you could sometimes see the new cars a few days before they officially came out. But of course that was back when the new models were really something and announcement day meant something. Not like today. I drooled over many a car in that showroom. And drove by it more times than I can remember. Thanks for the photo - bring back loads of memories as my dad died not quite a year ago....

Of course, more decal experiments, and the usual complement of '32 Fords. But this year was notable to me for my first non-hot rod, drag or kustom model, the Ferrari 250GT SWB. There will be more. It's my goal to broaden my range of themes and subjects as my skills continue to improve (which, thankfully, they still seem to be). Thanx to you all for your interest and support. All the best this holiday season and for a happy and fulfilling 2018. B.
