Any source for resin bumpers without bumper guards or wings? Some I would have interest in the 51 Chevy, 57 Ford, 58 Plymouth 49 Mercury and 49/50 Ford

Add '58 Edsel to that - I made my own by using the original '58 kit/promo bumpers; they're thick enough to cut off the guards without having to backfill them:

You could salvage the '58 Plymouth bumpers from a junked Jo-Han promo; Modelhaus used to make wingless '58 bumpers if you can find a set.

'53 Ford bumpers would be another good candidate; again Modelhaus made those before they closed.

I have modified the Bumpers in several kits in the past and then sprayed them with Alclad Chrome paint. Modelhaus used to have the best '49-'51 Ford Bumpers but I don't know of anyone doing them now. I have gotten some smooth '57 Ford Bumpers from Replicas & Miniatures that only need to be Chromed. If you're building a '55 Chevy look for one of the old AMT kits with the Checkered Flag on the rear quarters on the box art. The kit had a set of smooth Bumpers as an option and the rear one was the Wagon style with the notch for the License Plate. I would suggest looking in the Directory on this site to see what the Suppliers there have listed.

The 57 bumper they offer is a smoothed one from the Revell kit, and it is incorrect from the get go.

Yea, I need to get on the Alclad wagon I guess.

The R&M '57 Ford Bumpers are front and rear and I believe are based on the 2 door bumpers. They fit perfectly as I have checked. The biggest problem with the front Bumper in the kit has to do with the mounting area on the back side. Using the kit Bumpers a couple of years ago when I first built the '57 coupe was that when you removed the material that is the Bumper Guard you were into the mounting area and the Bumper would fold up. I reinforced the back side with parts of a metal staple and then used filler on the front side to make it smooth. The R&M Bumper looks almost like a kit type part as far as size and appearance. Their part number is RM-145B. I would highly recommend these Bumpers if this trying to build car without Bumper Guards.

Well, I appreciate the info, but if it is the Revell bumper, I will make my own. As stated, the actual shape of the Revell bumper is wrong and my 2 Revell 57's are getting mucho surgery and many parts substituted with AMT parts to correct that mess.
