socal76 Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 I decided to read all the posts in this thread and it still amazes me that some people still think the model companies have not devoted hundreds of hours already to the real possibilities as to items that could actually make them a profit. Then you have people like regular guy that think their idea will make the model companies untold profits. Well I am sorry regular guy, but your idea for what you want to see as a parts pack does nothing for me nor the subjects I like to build. Custom seats may be what YOU want, and probably some others, but they are useless for my preferred style of builds. Does that mean I am right? No, I am not saying that at all. You have your own opinion and are entitled to it, just as I have my own opinion as to what I would like to see. There is one big difference though. I have sent my suggestions to the companies that have a portion of the tooling already created. And I have also listened to others that have either been in the hobby longer than I have (50 years) or who have either worked in or been involved with those companies by doing test builds, box art, writing, whatever. But LISTEN when they tell you something. I was in kind of the same mental state when I first got exposed to the Aurora 1/16th scale drag racing items. I could not understand why they never came out with anymore. Then I had a person involved tell me why. Well I listened, and now I would like to do some 3-D modeling on my own to add some pieces to the rest of that collection. As to your ideas, why should I expect the model companies to provide what I can get via the aftermarket? Get flocking or embossing powder and create your own carpets. Go to Hanson, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Jo-Anne's and get material to do your own seat covers. The supplies are out there to be had. Just stop to think of the materials some of the people here use to create items they do. Sheet plastic used to create curves, rods, strips, quarter & half rounds for trim, the list could go on. I still marvel at something I saw a handicapped modeler use 50 some years ago to make working roll-up windows. Dave Shuklis used the tearing metal on a box of aluminum foil! So use the creative skills and build! Don't wait for the model companies to provide everything. Build something, even if just out of the box. You might provide some inspiration to somebody just starting out in this great hobby.

socal76 Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 (edited) My ID is socal76 because I used to live there and I had to move back to Missouri to take care of my mom and stepdad. Now I have become disabled and simply cannot afford to move back to CA. I did try to be respectful in my post to you. Now it is your turn to do the same and respect that not everyone wants to have to explain their personal life to you. I have had to explain it to friends who have not seen me in years. That I don't mind because they are friends. There are many days I can not even sit at the workbench due to pain issues. And I know of a friend here on the board who had a stroke a few years ago but he still keeps a civil tone. So now that you have had the disrespect to find out such a trivial aspect of my life as to WHY I use the ID I created is there something else you feel I need to explain to you? Other than what I tried to be respectful of posting to you? Oh I did forget to mention why the 76 was also part of my ID. Graduation or enlisting in the USMC, take your pick. regular guy Posted April 4, 2018 Author Posted April 4, 2018 (edited) Sorry Mr Clark. Did not mean to stir up a hornet's nest by any means. I traveled for a few years and you couldn't swing a rock on string without hitting a person that used to live in Southern California. Found a Ventura surfer in Oklahoma City and more just all over the place. ' Then you have people like regular guy that think their idea will make the model companies untold profits ' It none of my never mind whether they make money or not. That's their side of the fence. I know what I like and just letting it be known and that's about it. When I traveled Missouri was one of may favorite states. Kingdom City Reno and I forget most of them. It's been a couple years. Oklahoma city has the National Rodeo Museum and just all kind of cool stuff. Once again sorry the user name was a big deal. Whoops! That's Oklahoma! Okay.Missouri.Grain Valley and Joplin and a bunch of other places. All very cool. Edited April 4, 2018 by regular guy
Luc Janssens Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 Value parts packs, fill a standard model kit box with tires. Cuz think that with the current ones, you pay more for the packaging then actual product.
