wayneman Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Hey guys. I’ve been lurking around the forum for years but rarely post. I am going to start building after a couple years of being lazy and thought I would complete a couple old nascar kits I have stored away. When I was building before, I would use dry transfers on the smooth side of the tire. They came in yellow and white as well as Hosier and Goodyear. I can’t find them now and wondered if anyone knew where I could find them. They always came out perfect for me (at least much better than I could paint). Thanks.

They are decals instead of dry rub though. Just sand the tires so they look used and real, slap on a decal and flat clear and the edges disappear.
bbowser Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 (edited) You are probably remembering Shabo dry transfers, they came in various styles and colors, as well as the Hoosiers you mentioned. I loved them, but apparently they are no longer available anywhere, I've looked. As DW says above, decals will work with a coat of flat clear. Just be sure your wheels will fit smoothly into the tires or you may crack the flat clear trying to mount them. Hope this helps! Edited March 16, 2018 by bbowser spelling
High octane Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 I've used lettering decals from Fireball Models, using Pledge on the tires before and after applying the decals and it came out great. I'll be using them again in the future.
wayneman Posted March 16, 2018 Author Posted March 16, 2018 Thanks for the responses. I will give the decals a try. When I saw “Shabo” mentioned it reminded me. That’s exactly what they were.
martinfan5 Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 You cant go wrong with Powersilde decals from Mikes.
