Snake45 Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 You're off to a good start. I vote for red paint. SubLime wasn't a factory color in '68 (not that that matters) and looks kinda weird on pre-1970 cars. Hemi Orange wasn't available in '68, either, and the first thing anyone thinks of when they see a '68-'69 Charger in any shade of Orange is Dukes of Hazzard. IMHO, these Chargers look great in dark metallic blue, but hey that's just my opinon. It's YOUR model so paint it the way YOU want and don't let me or anyone else talk you out of it.
426 pack Posted May 8, 2018 Author Posted May 8, 2018 Thanks snake I think I will be going green because in my mind every time I look at the car in my mind I see it green. I got the engine painted and I started assembling it. I also decided that I’m going to use the hood scoop and paint the hood flat black.
rsxse240 Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I am so glad you kept your old one! I wish I still had my childhood builds. They all went into the parts bin or sold to pay the gas/electric bill. Your current build is coming along nicely! I look forward to your progress. Incidentally, the '68-70 Charger is my dream car as well.
spencer1984 Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Good choice; I don't have any of my very first builds, but I do have a few that were still early enough that I can compare them to newer builds. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this one!
426 pack Posted May 8, 2018 Author Posted May 8, 2018 Thanks guys. I will be buying the paint later today so it should have paint on it by tomorrow.
Geno Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 Cale, I like what you did with the first one, and this one is shaping up to be pretty sweet as well. Don't know how much of a stickler you are for accuracy and this is only an FYI, because modeling is about building what you like, but no Six Pack cars were ever built with AC. Here's a '69 I'm building as the Dirty Mary Crazy Larry Charger. Build on Cale, I can't wait to see it when it's done.

Geno I never knew that the 440-6pack never came with AC so thanks for teaching me something new. I probably will still keep the AC as there is always a possibility of it getting installed later in its life and original it’s what I’m going for with this as it will have a set of long tube headers, traction bars and a few other things that aren’t exactly factor. you will have to post some pics of your 69 when it is done.
