I received my copy in the mail yesterday, and I have enjoyed all of the content. I do have one small problem with the book, though it is a common issue in modern publishing.

The one beef I have with books these days are the number of typographical/content errors which slip past the copy editors (if there is still such a position). I keep finding words which have been changed by AutoCorrect (e.g. 'Grand Special' instead of 'Grant Special' for the JoHan '68 Javelin), or changed names ('Joe' Haenle). You would think that there would be plenty of English majors out there who can proof-read books, while waiting for their dream jobs as Starbucks baristas to become reality. End of sermon!

Overall, Tim Boyd has written a great book which deserves to be on the shelves of all car modellers.

Ken....thanks for the feedback and the overall vedict.

Both I and the CarTech Editor for this project, Bob Wilson, did a pretty intense "flyspec" for errors on the initial book mockup, and we found a number of them (probably some due to Auto-Correct as well - e.g. "Sports Fury" instead of the correct "Sport Fury") that fortunately got fixed.  Any that remain are probably the result of our own oversights rather than auto-correct features.

Having said that, I am keeping a list of any tweaks that would improve the accuracy.  Your examples above are very helpful, there are at least a few others (mostly minor factual errors, and mostly involving the full size car discussions rather than the models) that I noticed as well in the final published book.  If the book goes into an additional print run, the intent of the publisher and myself is that we will correct any known errors.  If you (or anyone else reading this thread) come across any other errors, you are welcome to send me a note at my email addy and I'll add them to the list of tweaks.

Thanks again.....TIM

Received my copy this week.  Great book, thanks Tim for all of your hard work. It brought back great memories from my youth.  A great job of reliving the history of what was happening in the 1:1 car world and the model car world.

Just got my copy today in the UK... it's fantastic. Even though the subject matter isn't one of my main interests, good books about car modelling and model cars are hard to find, and great ones even fewer and further between. This is a great one. It's jumped straight up there on my "shelf of fame" alongside Mat Irvine's volume on space models, Arthur Ward's on Airfix, JC Carbonel's book on Heller, and Thomas Graham's Monogram Models and Remembering Revell...

I'm sure that by the time I've finished, a few more of the beauties in the pages will have made it onto my wish list.

Now, where am I going to find a Donohue AMX Javelin that won't break the bank...?

Thanks, Tim... outstanding job!

best,

M.
