ewetwo Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Does anyone know if the Revell 1956 ford Sunliner and the 1956 Cadillac Eldorado convertible have clear plastic for the windshields? I have both kits but neither have windshields. Just the windsheild frames.
SfanGoch Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 I don't see any in either kit's part lists. You'll have to make them from clear sheet.
Mark Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Those 1/32 scale kits never included any clear parts. Nor did the 1/25 scale '57 Ford Ranch Wagon that Revell made back then.
Mike999 Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Ditto for their old 1/48 (or O Scale) '56 Ford Pickup with Motorcycle, and the '56 Chevy Stake Truck. And like the cars mentioned above, all of these have nice big, complicated 1950s wrap-around windshields. Some people make their own, by carving a mold out of wood, or making one out of 2-part epoxy putty. Then heat-forming clear plastic over the mold. That might be easier if you have an aircraft-modeling friend with one of the old Mattel Vac-U-Form machines.
SfanGoch Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 I make bucks from 2-part epoxy (Magic-Sculpt). I cut out a section of a 2 liter soda bottle wide enough to accommodate the buck, place the buck and bottle section on and around a 24 oz. pasta jar (empty, of course), clamp the excess bottle plastic from the back with a vise-grip and use a heat gun to form the glass. Works for me. Your mileage may vary.
