Leonidas
I have one of the molded in metalflake models and am wondering what to do with the plastic body to make it shine without paint. Just polish the plastic or clear coat the plastic then polish?
StevenGuthmiller
You can surely polish the plastic & it will look every bit as good as paint. Check the body over well though. These "molded in color" bodies are notorious for having all sorts of swirls in them. Especially the metallic ones. This '61 Plymouth was molded in yellow & just polished out. No clear coat. Oldcarfan27
Just sand away the parting lines and polish the plastic like you would a paint job. Biggest problem is the swirl marks and translucency in the plastic. Swirl marks I have no fixes for, but if the plastic is translucent - try painting the inside of the body with an opaque color. Black, if you want it darker, light grey if you want it lighter. Cool thing about polishing the plastic - no scratches, chips or burn through. Bad thing about polished plastic - can't blend mismatched colors or touch up glue marks, so be careful!
cobraman
They also still have mold seems that need ( should ) be removed.

Agent G
If the plastic is a warm color, paint the inside gold. If it's a cool color, use silver. Just like the base coat for a candy paint job. G
