OldTrucker Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I bought 25 in one pop about 12 years ago at a car swap meet. The guy just didn't want to take them back home and was just taking anything reasonable for the kits. Nothing rare but most were OOP kits. Ranged anywhere from 2.00 - 10.00. Used most for trade stock after they sat buried in a closed for about 8 years.
Deuces Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 I bought the best kits jimnohio had to offer..... More than 100 of them.... Not all at once though... He once hand delivered a box full of kits to my front door..... That was real nice of him.....
Anglia105E Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 When I first saw this topic I was expecting the question to be ' How many kits do you buy in one month? ' This is because I usually buy around one kit per month, but only because the type of specialised kits I want only come up once a month, and at the right price. I did once buy a box of 5 kits in one go, which was 3 Minicraft Rolls-Royce Silver Clouds and 2 Italeri Rolls-Royce Phantom II's, from a guy in Canada and the shipping cost was way more than the cost of the kits. Shipping took 2 months to UK by sea. David
randyc Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 When kits were well under $10 each, I would go at least once a month and spend $100. So that is around 10 kits and supplies. Near that same period, I would stop EVERY Friday on the way home at a hobby shop and get a kit or two. And yes I built a lot too. Not huge by some standards, but I have well over 200 kits built in cases and a huge box of carefully wrapped builtups. Been selling NASCAR builtups lately. For cheap. Just to get rid of. I figure 10 - 15 bucks a pop is that much i didn't have and won't get with them sitting in boxes. One guy is buying about every one I post to use the bodies on slot cars. LOL. I keep the cases and put my "uncased" stuff in them. And the new Mint cars. I buy a crappy looking car, repair it, clean it, polish it, case it, and eBay it. Keep it in a case to keep it clean while it waits for a new home. And now I'm buying Danbury and Franklin Mint cars. They can be had for well less than a new plastic kit. And I can't build one that well for that price. I bought 3 yesterday before I got out of bed. LOL Ebay. I haven't bought a kit in a while. 76 stock Torino and the Cadillac low rider. I still have enough kits to keep me busy for a while.
