Buggin' Out

Started working on this a few weeks ago,

I was going to try the DYC Pearl Bomb on it but that didn't work out when I tried it on a speed form that I had bought.......

So I just shot it in Testors' Blazing Black, then shot the roof in Model Master Black Lacquer, but ran into issues where I damaged the not quite dry yet paintwhen I went to mask off the body to painted the pillars and lower window trim,

Tried to clean it up with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, but that just did this.................

So I went ahead and wet sanded then reshot it, did barely manage to leave some finger prints in the paint, but picked up some 3000 grit sand paper to try and clean it up before shooting the clear.

In the process of building this one, I started a second  and lose one of the mirrors for the black one....................

Painting issues continued when the second Bug fell off the stand while shooting the primer, damaging it in areas and requiring more wet sanding,

I did the wet sanding and now I just need to put more primer down then shoot the.......rather work appropriate and polar opposite color coat I've chosen on it,

Now since the I needed to get a new mirror, I ended up ordering an older issue off Amazon that had the chromed wheels and reflectors, think the chromed wheels will go on Bug #2 and this bug will likely get built too, still deciding on how I want to,

I do like how this second gen looks, and may try and follow that appearance, even being a first gen kit..

Some of it was tryin to do too much too soon, some was not taping the body to the stand like I should have, and then whole pearl bomb was just an experiment in general.

Yup, then on top of this, I'm doing the paintwork on one of their C7 Vettes, and had to strip the primer that came out rough and pebblie, even then, the reprime is a bit questionable and needs work!
