Casey Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 (edited) This rearend has a separate, drop out center section, and looks to me like a Ford 9. Unfortunately, I don't know which kit it came from, but it's definitely an AMT part, molded in that drab, Ertl grey plastic. Note there are to notches, on the forward facing 'side' of the axle tube, so probably not from a car with traditional leaf springs. '71 Charger, '67 Comet, and '60 Starliner have all been ruled out: Edited September 15, 2018 by Casey
Badluck 13 Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 It looks like the old AMT NASCAR series from the 90's if I remember right but to be honest I haven't seen one of those kits since they came out way back when
Fat Brian Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 I don't think it's from a NASCAR kit, there's no provision for the rear end oil pump.
bill lanfear Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 Definitely a Ford 9 inch...don't know from what kit though, sorry. Fords offered this rear end on production models from 1957-1986 on both cars and trucks, not to mention it being reproduced for all sorts of racing applications in the aftermarket world . Hope you find the mystery kit....good luck!
Force Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 (edited) It's a Ford 9 inch axle and it can be found in large and some medium Ford cars, Ford pickup trucks, street/hot rods, some hi perf street cars and race cars. This particular axle looks like the one in the AMT 39 Wagon Rod. Edited September 15, 2018 by Force
Fat Brian Posted September 15, 2018 Posted September 15, 2018 (edited) I believe Hakan is correct, the two notches in the axle are for the four link setup. Edited September 15, 2018 by Fat Brian
