Ahajmano Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 (edited) I started decanting and spraying with my airbrush recently, to reduce the overstay waste and get the corners. Anyone else successful at this? One problem I am having is that it seems to be drying mid air before it hits the car body. I think this is the problem because I’m getting a build up of primer in clumps on the surface, creating a rough and textured surface. It also could be from the inclusion of water from my compressor. Maybe I should thin it. Anyone else have this problem? i really enjoy the badger stylrez primer, But not for the car body. The surface finish is too rough and takes a lot of sanding to get glass smooth, before I spray on my laquer color. Edited October 6, 2018 by Ahajmano

Snake45 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Why not give Walmart primer a try? Goes on smooth, and so cheap you don't need to worry about "wasting" it like with the ultra-$$$ Tamiya stuff.

I just painted the Dukes Of Hazards Charger and it came out alright. I'll sand it down some and see if I can get rid of the orange peel. I do have to get a paint booth because I want to try using my air brush and it's getting cold here in the North East. I want to paint this winter.
Ahajmano Posted October 7, 2018 Author Posted October 7, 2018 I built this last month: works great. Cost abou 100 bucks all in. Let me know if you need any advice or help
High octane Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 I always use Tamiya primer, however I just shoot it from the can with great results. No muss, no fuss, just "shake 'n spray."
