I was actually thinking this the other night. The logistics of having to move my hobbies. Not only the model stash (admittedly, maybe a couple of hundred) but also my guitars. It's one thing to move down the street, but across country? Or what if we wanted to move overseas? I think we'll just stay here for a while!

I moved from New Jersey to Pennsylvania nine years ago.  I was fortunate that we owned both houses for a year.  I lived in PA during the week, and drove home to the family in NJ every Friday.  Every week I'd fill my Dodge Grand Caravan up into the Mark III hightop with "stuff".  One of the first things I brought down was my work bench (an old hollow core door that sits on two night stands) so that I'd have something to occupy my evenings.  Yea, at least 50 trips to get all the collectibles and things I didn't trust to movers to the new house!

My move in 2017 from Arizona to Ohio was an adventure.  Bought the house in Ohio in January 2017, didn't sell the house in AZ until July 2017.   I took about 5 months to pack up the house and storage units in Phoenix incl. about 1500 model kits and more diecast into 4 16" 'Pods'.   Filled up the Pods one at a time, shipped them to Ohio, flew back, unpacked the Pod, flew back to AZ and packed up the next one.  All while working full time. Traded my old Jeep on a newer one, then drove cross country w/ the dogs and my sister in June 2017.   All models and diecast arrived in great shape w/ nothing damaged.    I don't want to do that again anytime soon..plan on being in this house for a while..

What got me thinking about how we'd move is a show on Nova all about the Kilauea eruption last year. And believe it or not, a show about a devastating volcanic eruption got me thinking about how nice living there would be. Then I started thinking about moving from Canada to Hawaii. Especially now that we were at -30 degrees Celsius (-22F) this morning, with -40 degree (-40F) windchill. I guess we'd just rent a Sea Can and load it up.
