I've got a kit of a '73-'76 Chevelle NASCAR that I think would be fun to put "on the street." The headlight areas are blanked off. What other kit might have suitable heatlights and their surrounding bezels that I could either steal or sili-clone to make some stock-ish looking lights for this thing? '72 Chevelle? '70 Monte Carlo? '70 1/2 Camaro? What might work?

Most of the time, folks have used the headlight buckets from the easily found Johan 75 Cutlass snapper. But if you don't have that, then go through the ol' parts box and see what you have that's similar in shape. Chevelle headlights have a basic shape that's pretty universal.

I was able to use 77 Monte Carlo stacked, square headlights on a 76 El Camino project I've been working on, and they look right on!

BTW, the complete interior from the 77 Monte Carlo is perfect for the Chevelle. They were both exactly the same!

Yep, those Jo-Han Cutlass headlight buckets look pretty close to '73 and '74 Chevelle ones. This sounds like an interesting project with lots of work, but I think it could be done. I've been planning on doing a similar modification as I have a couple of those Stock Car kits too.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have a JoHan '75 Cutlass. I know where I could buy one for $45 or $50, but not gonna pay that just to get this goofy project on the shelf.

The headlights will be the hardest part. I'm not going to restore the thing back to stock, which of course WOULD be a lot of work. I'm going to do it as if someone had taken a real NASCAR and done just enough to it to get it licensed and street-legal-"ish". A real street freak.

That plan doesn't sound too bad either! Should be a cool project, so hopefully we can see a project thread or something when you get to it? These 3rd Gen GM A-Bodies happen to be very interesting... ;)

I understand that it's not a good idea to pay that money from one of the Cutlass kits. I was lucky to find mine with $20 price tag here in Finland, but I knew immediately that it was cheap...
