Spruslayer Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 (edited) This is a project based on a real car my brother co-owned and drove. It was the middle 70s and i taged along sometimes acting as the the water wagon mule! I started with the AMT #6505 65 Chevell Station Wagon as the body,AMT -636 66 Chevy Nova Prostreet for the chassie and suspension and the 350 automatic from the MPC 1-3708 25th anniversary Corvette Edited November 9, 2018 by Spruslayer Spelling
Mr mopar Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 Interesting do you have a pic of the chassis ,I would like to see if you stretched it ?
Spruslayer Posted November 9, 2018 Author Posted November 9, 2018 (edited) The chassie did need an extra .225 or so to make it fit.and about .190 had to come off the width also. These are not the wheels i plan to use,i have some Firestone Drag 500 slicks on the way from Speed City and the 65 Chevelle PE set from model car garage. When i get those ill be looking for a set of centerline style wheels Edited November 9, 2018 by Spruslayer Content
Mr mopar Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 Ok thx ........ I'll be watching this build !
Flatout Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 Nice start Mike...those fat tires look good tucked under there! Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Spruslayer Posted November 9, 2018 Author Posted November 9, 2018 Have to give Speed City Resin a plug here.Ordered the Firestone Drag 500 slicks on 11/5,got them today Heres some shots with the slicks and the stance i want to acheive when done Now to find a set of wheels!!
disabled modeler Posted November 10, 2018 Posted November 10, 2018 very cool Mike...! I am a huge fan of the 60s wagons....we need more kits of them.
Alan Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 I don't mean this critique in a negative way but a constructive way .......To replicate a more accurate build you should have used one of the 67 Chevelle PS full frame chassis, as a Nova unibody with leaf springs is not correct ......... Alan
Spruslayer Posted November 17, 2018 Author Posted November 17, 2018 I agree 100 + Alan. This has turned into sort of a nightmare so now im to the point i just want to endup with a usable model. Not only bad choice of frame i also did the interior tub wrong that ended up costing a lot of work.In hindsite, i would like to do this again with a better choice of frame and not destroy the interior tub next time.Maybe if R2 would reissue this wagon it would be easier to get doner bodies
Spruslayer Posted November 17, 2018 Author Posted November 17, 2018 Heres a few pics of where im at now.
Snake45 Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Great work so far! Your last pic reminded me a lot of one I took at about the same stage of my own dragwagon I built a few years ago. Hope you don't mind me posting it, I apologize in advance.
