Breezy Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 this is my first build. i just got my airbrush and will be doing the body soon. thanks for looking. any input is cool by me I'm working on my photos.
Funkychiken Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Well, if this is your first build, it's going really well...
Plastic_Passion Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Yeah! I have to agree. This is a few steps up than beginner. Looks great so far.
Plastic_Passion Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Especially since it's an atm. And has pose-able steering which I see you havent mucked up. Amt models can take some finesse to put together and while they have a tenancy to really come together getting them there can make you question if it's going on the shelf or not. One amt that stands out to me in this statement is any of the c4 corvette models or the 93-2000 camaro/firebird line. Their trucks have been decent but like I said that steering can get tricky.
Breezy Posted January 6, 2019 Author Posted January 6, 2019 Thanks for the comments. I sprayed a clear with acetone in it on the body and completely ruined it. I need to strip the body and try again I moved on to a car ( also amt). I've only got amt kits and if I don't get a nicer kit then I'll never know the difference and the amt kits are cheap. I'm still working on getting good photos. So for now this is on the shelf. Also I should of done more dry fits. It's my first build and I will finish it.
Plastic_Passion Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Lol hindsight is always 20/20. But also the way we learn. I tend to "build" my models quite a bit as I'm going to see how everything is jiving together. I have a ram vts pickup I had done a long time ago and hated it. So I bought another since I had lost the original. I dont mind the remake. Came out a bit darker than I wanted but I rolled with it. Now I have another vts kit. However.... this one wont be a 2wd sport truck. I'll be jacking it up. Lots and lots of fabbing parts up as the 96 ram has boxed upper and lower control arms for the front axles.... which nobody makes.... so I have to...
Plastic_Passion Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 I did the same thing to this amt shortbox.
Breezy Posted January 6, 2019 Author Posted January 6, 2019 That looks great. The yellow lights look really good with the blue. I'm working on a 53 Ford and taking my time with it. But I was going to try and lift the little Nissan just to try lifting a vehicle. I was trying to do to many things and kind of rushed it. My skills are improving day to day with the help of this forum and people like yourself.
Rusty92 Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 The Nissan looks great. You have got some serious skills already! Jacob
Plastic_Passion Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 You can find some pretty decent resin parts on ebay. Leaf springs, axles, brakes, turbos, transfer cases, motors, bodies, diorama pieces, tires and more... they'll need some cleaning up when you get them depending on who casts them. Theres a set of swampers I want to get for the dodge when I start it. I'll also need a front axle since the truck is 2wd out of the box.

But I found a huge plane I will be using for sheet styrene and plan to try and make leaf springs etc. But is there anybody you specifically like on ebay?

Plastic_Passion Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 +1 on BNL. just be advised that they wont do custom work. Understandably so considering the work they have to do as is. I like the look of scenes unlimited also but havent worked with them. Jimmy flintstone has some good bodies too. I just started working with photo etched stuff. Whole different animal. That's like a whole model kit in itself just to do a brake job.
Plastic_Passion Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 And I completely understand the whole squeeze on spending tho I didnt have a kid.
Plastic_Passion Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 ?if you look around online, theres some sites that cater to the hobby. Such as modelcargarage and pegasus hobbies.
Rusty92 Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 I agree with above. If you check the car aftermarket/resin section of the CARS section you will find a lot of good aftermarket websites or services. I find that list to be more useful than the stuff in the truck section.
