Chevynuts Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 I bought one of the die cast 1/18 scale Box Caprice,, a rather shoddy model in so far as they combined numerous years together with Impala interior door panels,, but I was glad they made one.. I am a TOP OF THE LINE type of guy, so wanted a Caprice LS brougham.. 1st was to disassemble the entire car, then 2 to create the additional Landau rear roof extension by gluing on sheet styrene, filling with spot putty, sanding to finish,, 3 then a complete sand, adding correct body side moldings and lower bright trim, correcting the taillights by removing the painted on ones supplied on the model, repainting and trimming the interior, a complete sand and repaint,, trimming the bright side trim and adding body side pin stripes. Lastly was acquiring white wall tires, and adding bumper rub strips.. My Next project, take the same model to start with and convert in into MY 89 Caprice Estate Wagon.. I used the LS as a test model before starting this much more major project, but I am energized
espo Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 If the white model is the conversion of the red model, I would say that is an exceptional job. Even with the inaccuracy's you mentioned both cars look very nice.
