Ace-Garageguy Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Anybody else have their Chrome browser just stop working? My backup Firefox works fine, but Chrome can't connect to anything.
MrObsessive Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Chrome is tied to Google and lately they've been experiencing a series of 'shutdowns'. Frankly, I ditched Chrome months ago as I don't like how they'll restrict you via lack of Add-Ons to download and save any videos from YouTube for instance. Didn't use to be this way but it is now. Firefox is my go to browser now. No big issues lately.
Snake45 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 It's working okay for me, but I started it about 8 this morning. Still working. For the last month or two though, every time I start Chrome, it comes up with a message about "Chrome did not shut down correctly. Do you want to restore pages?" This happens whether I X out of all the individual tabs and it goes off, or if I just X out the whole thing. It always does "not shut down correctly." Oh, also, once in a while, I just can't get Chrome to start at all, and have to restart the computer to get it up. The same thing happens once in a while with the AOL browser as well. Just more First World Problems.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 Welp, I got it running again. Thanks for the responses. I ended up running a malware program I rarely use, and it found something that had managed to sneak in under my gold-plated antivirus/malware setup. I REALLY wish there was an agency with some TEETH that would go after bad hackers, virus writers, etc., and just shoot 'em.
