Hi all:

I'm starting on the Polar Lights '69 Leeroy Yarbrough Mercury Cyclone Spoiler kit.  How accurate are the paint colors in the instructions ?  I've only built 1980's GM NASCAR kits up to now, so I'm a newbie to the older Fords.

Thanks in advance.

I haven’t seen the instructions for that version. I can tell you that kit has some challenges to get it right. The worst being the nose curves upward. It can be fixed pretty easy with some hot water and a couple slots cut in the inner fenders. The shock tower bars need modifications to fit the 429 engine in also. A lot of people really gripe about these problems but they are pretty easy to solve. Bobby actually never drove this as a Spoiler II. He drove a standard nose Spoiler

I just built his Torino Talladega. The floor pan was done in Spatter Grey while the roll cage was done in black with a black underneath also, don't know if this was done on the Cyclone or not but I would guess probably yes. There are many problems with this kit, like mentioned above with the fenders and if using the 429, You also need to trim the rear window to make it fit flush with the body and toss out the kit tires and get a set of PPP tires. there is a post on randy ayers forum with a step by step how to fix these problems.
