Antikainen Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 (edited) HI! This is a Revell London bus that I built as a present for my mother-in-law who is a real London fan. So here are those pics: Edited February 2, 2019 by Antikainen
Antikainen Posted February 2, 2019 Author Posted February 2, 2019 This was very time taking and in some ways a stresfull but also very rewarding build. I must say that although this kit is not for the faint - hearted it stil is fun to build in some twisted way.
Anglia105E Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Jarkko Antikainen......... Well done for completing this build of the London RML Routemaster bus, and I know how difficult it is because I did build one myself. To build this Revell 1:24 scale bus took me 2 months, and there are nearly 400 pieces / parts to the kit. This Revell kit is really good, and as you say, it is a lot of fun to do. I converted the RML bus to an older type RT which is a shorter wheel base and not so many windows! The front end of the older bus is different also. You would agree with me that the most time consuming part of this build is the SEATS....... many, many seats to assemble and paint .... also the seats are right and left handed, so you have to get it right. Like your photos of a really nice build.......you did it ! David

I found out that best way to build this kind of kit is simply to put up an assembly line for various sub assemblies like those seats. In many building stages there were need for some series type repeating assembly work. I really am going to built similar bus for myself also in the near future.
Anglia105E Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Jarkko...... I see that you have a very good resin body casting supplier in Finland, which is the Air-Trax guys. The owner is Tapani Rauramo. They have some very interesting resin body kits listed, and their list includes some very unusual cars too. Air-Trax are well known here in England, and also in the USA. The prices are high but the quality is also high. David

The quality is really high so you really will get quality for every €, £ or $ you spend.
CRUSADER2 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 That looks fantastic, a really nice job and well worth the two months building time. to me that's really quick for the amount of parts involved, excellent work!!!
Anglia105E Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Jarkko....... Recently, I was looking at the 1952-1955 Bentley Continental R which is priced at € 100.00, and the only problem would be finding a suitable donor kit. David
tbill Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Great job on this, I’d like to do one of these someday.
Merc-57 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Anglia 105E This is slightly going off topic but I've got the Amazon Volvo and a SAAB 96 from Air-Trax and like them both very much.
