I’ve got a few Mopar builds on the bench, but I need some info on my 69 A12 build, I’m a bit confused on the resin grill I found in my parts bin.

The grill I have “appears” to be a Hart’s Parts grill. But I could be wrong. It has the “GTX” omitted from the grill. This particular grill is larger than the 1/25 scale kit grill. I’m not sure if ANY of the 69 kits were ever molded in 1/24 scale or not. I’m even thinking it could be molded after the JoHan kit?

Id like to use it for this build, but,I don’t think it will happen, as the more material I remove to make it fit, is going to ruin it.

Can anyone with  knowledge in Mopar kits set me straight?

Well, I can tell you there was never a 1/24th scale kit of a 1969 GTX or Road Runner produced.

Odds are the resin piece is a screw up.

I also, can tell you a Johan 1969 Roadrunner grill is almost a simple drop in to an AMT body

I can ck over the weekend and if I have a spare 69 Johan RR grill ( odds are pretty good  I do )  Its yours

Shown is a Johan 69 GTX grill in an AMT 69 GTX body. Only thing I had to do was remove some material in the body  behind where the headlights are to drop the grill in place

Thanks for the reply, Bill. I thought they were only molded in 1/25.

I guess it’s safe to say the resin piece is a screw up.

If you have a grill without the GTX, I can definitely use it.

I bought a new grill from Hart’s Parts, and this one is also big. No as big as the one in this post, but big enough where a lot of work around the front fenders and on the grill itself to get it to fit. Now it finally fits into the opening, but now it sticks way out beyond the hood.

This weekend I'll put a Johan grill in an AMT body to show how it fits and take a few pics

Thanks Bill, you can see the headlight bezels in that pic I posted. They are not close to the original.

I cant sand anymore as I’m afraid I’ll ruin the body.

That almost looks like the difference between a 1/24th and a 1/25th scale part.

I thought the same thing but there wasn’t a 1/24 69 Roadrunner kitted.

I did try slipping this in a monogram 1/24 Superbee and it’s too small for 1/24 scale.

Something has to be way out of scale here. At first ready about your fitment description I thought maybe a little out of the grill surround and the head lights. After seeing the two grills side by side in the photo there's a lot more to this than scale.

Yea... there is no doubt the first grill I tried in the beginning of this post was the same size. I just can’t check because it snapped and I tossed it.

I sent Hart’s Parts an email about it, and just waiting  for a reply.

The AMT grille opening is DEFINITELY narrower than the Jo-Han. Vaughn Hart's grille is mastered from the Jo-Han part.

Bill was kind enough to supply me with a grill that I will be using (pic). This one fits like a charm. That resin one from Hart’s, would not fit no matter what was done to it. I compared it to the JoHan grills Bill sent, and something is definitely amiss. Even if I modified it to fit flush, it was so wide, the front fenders would be spread so far apart, the hood gaps would be terrible.
