Mr Haigwood

You've got me on that one.

The carb I am most familiar with is a Holley 850cfm mechanical double pumper annular discharge.A racing carb.

That carb you are looking at I only know as something you take off an engine.Rochesters and flat top holleys.

My Hot Rod Lincoln would actually be a Model A Roadster.

All these years that is how I pictured in my mind.

The guy probably went with a coupe to have a little rollover insurance. You know what I mean Vern?;)

I was  looking at what was available in 55 for my build. I want to do it as close to the original version as I can, It will be black. Building it your own style is great. A roadster with a newer Holly would look neat, Ernest

I also have in the works a couple of Tweedy Pies. One with the flathead as it was first built and one built in a later version.

The Monogram '41 Continental kit has a much better V-12 engine.  It's 1/24 scale, and simplified (parts like oil pan and exhaust manifolds molded as a unit with the block).

If you want to hear "Hot Rod Race" by Jimmy Dolan, you'll find it on this album.  Along with other neat, hard-to-find songs like Robert Mitchum's "Ballad of Thunder Road." The Wikipedia article calls Dolan "Little Jimmie Dolan," so maybe he upgraded his name by the time this album came out.

Weird Trivia:  Capitol Records put together "Shut Down" as a budget compilation album, with The Beach Boys songs being the big draw.  That caused the Beach Boys some trouble later, when they wanted to release their own album named "Shut Down." Capitol said no dice, that name has already been used.  That's why The Beach Boys album was named "Shut Down, Volume 2."  That confused fans, who wondered why they never saw "Shut Down, Volume 1."  Which was this album.

The movie "Thunder Road" with Robert Mitchum is a good old bootlegger/hot rod movie. I found the Blue Ray disc at a thrift store a few years ago.  I have this posted in my WIPs, the Hot Rod Lincoln I'm working on... and off, and on...
