ewetwo Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 The Chevy has been in the purple pond 4 times. It was a started kit along with a started 1937 Ford. They are finally seeing the light. Lol I don’t know why but each time I’ve painted the Chevy. A vertices line appears in the middle of the driver and passenger doors. So it just going to be done with. It was to be something with the plastic.
bisc63 Posted April 20, 2019 Posted April 20, 2019 Love those '62s, and that gold is a handsome color that suits it very nicely. Can't wait to see the finished product!
ewetwo Posted April 20, 2019 Author Posted April 20, 2019 Thank you Rusty. Testor’s rattle can gold. The interior was was a company called Golden. Really nice acrylic but a bit pricy. But it does sparky and cover nicely. Can you see the verticals shadow on the center of the drivers door. I stripped this numerous time but it kept coming back. Same thing on the passenger side door.
misterNNL Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 Obviously the gold is a very appropriate color choice for the '62 as that was the golden anniversary year for Chevy. Looking really nice. Thanks for sharing.
bisc63 Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 I'm familiar with Golden acrylics, and have used them on canvas for some time; top-notch stuff, but yeah, top-notch prices! I had a similar problem a few years back as your door issue; it took a change of primer to nail it down. It seemed like there was a difference in densities of the styrene, as if it was not fully incorporated and had hard spots and soft spots. Krylon sandable primer, sanded smooth with 800 grit and followed with a coat of spray-can etching primer (I forget the brand) as a barrier coat, and the enamel paint (Testors red) laid down smoothly.
dino246gt Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 They're both looking very cool, I especially like the Chev!
