69NovaYenko Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 (edited) Besides MCM Automotive Finishes are their other aftermarket vendors in the hobby world that offer "ERA CORRECT" colors ready to shoot in one to two ounce quantities for 1:25 car/truck body panels. I am aware of House of Kolor but a quart of color is far to much for a 1:25 car body not to mention the cost. I was eyeballing Gravity Colors however they are not car manufacturer year specific (not to mention they have a hold on taking new orders until they resolve their back log of orders issue). I`m trying to move away from the "enamel" paints that are marketed by Scale Auto Finishes; while it`s a great product the inconvenience of "dry time" etc is a major bummer!!! StevenGuthmiller Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 I have not tried them yet, but I just picked up several 2 oz. jars of base coat lacquer from "Scale Finishes". The nice thing about Scale Finishes versus MCW is that Scale Finishes has all of their paints listed by year, make and code, with the correct color names. MCW lists their colors by one color for a particular year, ( ie, they may list only 1959 Chevrolet "Gothic Gold", but not other GM colors of the same code like Buick "Copper Glow" or Oldsmobile "Bronze Mist".) and some times it's a guessing game whether or not you're actually getting the color that you need. Plus Scale Finishes carries some colors that MCW does not, unless it is ordered special. I recently was able to order 1964 Pontiac "Sunfire Red" and '68 Oldsmobile "Cinnamon Bronze" From Scale finishes. Neither were available from MCW. Steve
69NovaYenko Posted May 14, 2019 Author Posted May 14, 2019 You differently have my attention..however I was under the impression that the only era correct paint they carried were "ENAMELS". How do I identify their “Non-Enamel” paint products from the “ENAMEL” products on their website?

How do I identify their “Non-Enamel” paint products from the “ENAMEL” products on their website? When you go to their website, click on "Automotive Colors". Next, find the particular make of car that you are looking for and click on it. You will see a list of years of that make, and under each year will be 2 boxes, each with a color and either "Base Coat" or "Gloss Enamel" behind each. The "Base Coat" box is the lacquer base coat paint. If you click on the arrow on the right hand side of the base coat box, a drop down menu will appear with all of the color names and codes available for that model year. Click on the color that you want and then click "Add to Cart". All set! Steve Edited May 14, 2019 by StevenGuthmiller
