OldNYJim Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 This looks outstanding Dennis - it has that “can’t put my finger on it” factor that makes it look REAL even though I know it isn’t. Probably a combination of things, but it’s a really good looking build! Always appreciate you sharing your work!
mrm Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 I just received my order from Drag City Casting this morning with Moredoor body It is absolutely stunning. Both the execution of the chop and conversion and the flawless quality of the casting.

I enjoy following your work, too. I can’t paint so it always amazes me seeing the elaborate work people are capable of in scale, like your street freak wagon. Wild stuff!

I think he and I make a good team. Hope to see you build it!

Hope to see you build it! You will. And I hope you finish that phantom phaeton (Chip Foose) WITH A ROOF. And then get it molded. I would be on board for few.

mrm Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 18 hours ago, Dennis Lacy said: Phantom Phaeton? I may be mistaken, but I thought you started working some time back on making a two door phaeton, by combining the Tudor sedan, with the 3 window with the roadster cowl, to replicate the Brookville limited run of bodies, which were designed by Chip Foose. I thought that was you, but I may have mixed you up with another builder on here.
mrm Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Found it. It was Rodney. I apologize to both of you. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/130134-32-phanton-foose-build-update-21118/
Dennis Lacy Posted May 5, 2020 Author Posted May 5, 2020 @mrm No worries! I don’t remember exactly what became of RRR’s phaeton project. I feel like he may have finished it and texted me pics but didn’t post it publicly because he wasn’t happy with it. Maybe...

All I was saying is that it would be great if there was a body like that available from Motor City Casters. And you have both the skills and the connections.
Dennis Lacy Posted May 17, 2020 Author Posted May 17, 2020 UPDATE! Getting closer. This might be the last update before final assembly which should take place over the next couple of weekends. The body and related blue parts have been polished and waxed. I love this color! The interior pieces are all finished. Instead of the typical black and white scheme I went with gray and white which is simply Tamiya flat white and fine gray primer with their semi-gloss clear to give it a sheen. The carpet area is Duplicolor dark gray sandable primer with a flat clear coat to seal it in. (I didn't pull the tape until I got home from work and got some white that bled under so I'll need to touch that spot up.) Steering wheel is Revell '48 Ford and the hot water heater is from Revell's '40 Ford's. Some last mock-ups.
Dennis Lacy Posted May 18, 2020 Author Posted May 18, 2020 UPDATE! Okay, I lied. THIS will be the last update before final assembly! Interior assembly: Voltage regulator and heater added to firewall: Fuel lines for carbs finished. Detail Master #1 line and fittings: Front shocks and headlights, taillights added. I'm a big fan of stock '32 taillights but I hate when people leave them out on the tips of the frame horns on a fender-less '32. Gotta tuck them back by the body! Now all that's left is to cut and install glass, shove the interior up into the body, install the firewall and wheel wells then glue it all down to the chassis.
alan barton Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Love the small headlights. I like big headlights as well but it seems like for the past decade or say every nostalgia build has had the big ones - these suit the build perfectly! I also enjoyed your grey and white colour scheme for the interior. That is a nice bunch of parts you used in there to bring it to life! Cheers Alan
