gator52 Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Is there an aftermarket cab out there to convert the Monogram F-350 from an extended cab to regular cab? If not I’ll take a shot at cutting the kit cab down; anyone have any preferred techniques for neatly removing the extended cab area? thanks Chris
mikemodeler Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 I don't believe there was ever a kit of the 87-91 body style that had a standard cab. There were 80-86 cabs and 92-96 cabs so your best bet is to cut the cab down.
mk11 Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 The cab and doors are basically the same from '80 - '96. You should be able to use the reissued monogram '80 shortbox cab and graft on the newer fenders or cut down the cab you have.

Yes, the wheel well openings are different, be sure to make sure you address them!
Oldmopars Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 Is this the dually kit? If so are you keeping the dually set-up? I am in need of the wheels and tires from a dually if you are going a different direction. PM me.
Ben Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 (edited) I’ve seen a resin crew cab for it but never a standard cab. I built this one when the kit originally came out in 1990 I think it was. Had to shorten the cab, the interior, the bed, the chassis, the exhaust and the fuel tank. Sorry for the really bad pics, they were taken with a potato. If we ever get a sunny day here, I’ll take better pictures of it. Edited June 11, 2019 by Ben
gator52 Posted June 12, 2019 Author Posted June 12, 2019 Ben, great job on the conversion and thanks for the photos. Scott, yes I plan to use the dually wheels as this will be an ambulance; therefore I don't need the bed if that helps at all. Chris
Ben Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I’m gonna try to get some better photos today if the sun comes out. If I do, I’ll post them here.
Ben Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I just added new pics of the regular cab, short bed Ford F-150 to the album, Under Glass Pickups.
signguy2108 Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) I just cut it at the door line, that way all i have to fix isa little cut across the roof. Got a couple of reg cabs and a swb started Edited June 14, 2019 by signguy2108 wording
gator52 Posted June 16, 2019 Author Posted June 16, 2019 Thanks for the info; I think I'll go with the door line cut as you did. Chris
mikemodeler Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 That gives me an idea on how to build a couple of wreckers I was planning, thanks for the idea of cutting the cab at the door!
signguy2108 Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Forgot to add the other cut is at the rear of the side window molding, just cut to match the door line. And chris, if u need ambulance pics (inside and out) of one of these, i've got a friend that's got a 95 model in his fleet, same cab. i'll get some pics of it tommorrow
