Motor City Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 (edited) The 1931 Rolls-Royce is a fairly common radio. The other two I don't recall ever seeing. Thanks for posting them, Brian. Edited November 20, 2024 by Motor City
Rob Hall Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 (edited) Of the AMT Philcos, I have the '67 Mustang in that hideous yellow and a light green '67 Thunderbird. Also have a '68 Galaxie XL in that same yellow, it may be a regular promo and not a radio, though. For the non-kit/promo based, I have a metal bodied '30s Rolls Royce 2 seat convertible radio that I've had since childhood, about 1/24th (same as the first link Brian posted above)...also have a '63 Cadillac convertible radio--was finished in gold..found at a flea market maybe 30 years ago. The Cadillac is plastic and not a Jo-han kit/promo tool, but larger...1/24th probably. I recall seeing these and others in novelty catalogs in the 80s. Edited November 19, 2024 by Rob Hall
Greg Myers Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 I got a red mustang for Christmas. Still have it and it still works.
Motor City Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 I have never seen a '68 XL in any color other than that yellow, which was not the factory color. It was available at S.S. Kresge for $1.00. I wanted to buy it, but Mom was in a hurry to go shopping elsewhere in the mall. Let me tell you, I paid a lot more for one decades later! I also have a '68 Toronado in an awful blue color. It was a Jo-Han tool but marketed by AMT. That promo friction was only available in one color. I don't recall what AMT called those loud colors.

I can confirm that a radio version of the AMT '68 Galaxie did exist, and that it also was molded in the bright yellow plastic with a black plastic radio chassis. I once owned one but sold it at a toy show in Buffalo, NY some time in the mid 1980's for $45. I just wasn't happy with a model that didn't have a detailed interior and that looked out of place displayed with my other promos and built models. Needless to say, I have never been able to acquire a kit or promo of the '68 Galaxie at a reasonable price since! Edited November 20, 2024 by jokar124 1
