ismaelg Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I promise this is the last one.... for this week Brookfield '97 Indy 500 Pace car promo Seller claimed it was never removed from the box, but from the amount of dust inside and the dirty body, it most likely spent a good part of the last 10 years in an open shelf. No big deal. I will eventually disassemble it for a good cleanup and maybe a black wash in the door panel lines. As far as I know, Brookfield made the only 1/25 scale representation ever made of a 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora. It was available as a regular promo or as the Indy Pace car you see here. I wonder what ever happened to Brookfield? Thanks,
MrObsessive Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Now there's something you don't see everyday Ismael..........in plastic or in 1:1! That was a great find! I don't think I've ever seen a stock one around in model form....... The 1:1 Aurora was a last gasp for Olds------it was too bad as that was a NICE car when it was new. It looked like Olds tried to capture the essence and feel of the old '66 Toronado looking at the overall shape, 'cept this one's a four door. Brookfield? I haven't heard of them molding plastic in at least 10 years! They had some unique stuff!
lordairgtar Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I have one of the stock promo Auroras.
Nick F40 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Still I liked them when they were in Trans Am, Olds really didn't do too bad in racing before they pulled the plug. My dad actually wanted to buy one after seeing how cool they were and my mom had a Cutlass. http://www.modellauto-shop.ch/145601.JPG
kerc Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Love that thing, bro! I wish there were more modern American cars available in 1:25!
Terry Jessee Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Brookfield was purchased by Action Racing Collectibles for the NASCAR diecasts they were doing. Essentially the plastic stuff was ignored. If it's not dismantled or scrapped, it's probably sitting in the corner of some warehouse somewhere. Brookfield did some neat stuff. Here's another one--Brookfield '97 Monte Carlo. This originally was a Brickyard 400 pace car promotional. Terry Jessee
ismaelg Posted September 13, 2008 Author Posted September 13, 2008 Terry, Thanks for the info on Brookfield. That's a very cool Monte Carlo. The Brookfield Brickyard 400 pace car Monte Carlo promo is next in my sight I always thought on getting one of those and convert it into my Lumina daily driver. Thanks,
MrObsessive Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Now that's a nice lookin' model Terry! In fact I like the 1:1 of that car MUCH better than the ugly thing Chevy put out a few years later and hung unto it forever. Now the car's in the big garage in the sky.
Art Anderson Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Brookfield Collectibles also did that Aurora Pace Car promo in diecast--I have both the diecast and the plastic versions. In addition, they also did the IRL Pace Car that was used at all the other races on the circuit that year. Art

Bill I hope you are not talking about the 00-06 Monte Carlo are you? I personally have a 04 LS coupe and it is without a doubt the nicest looking, most comfortable, and all arround best car I have owned........to date . my ride "Monty" I would LOVE to do a model of it, but the only thing out there is the 00-04 Monte Carlo SS in 1/18 by sunstar diecast. now the only major things that differ between my car and a SS is the lower cladding, fog lamps (LS and SS share the same facia just they have cheesy 'vents' where the SS car fogs are) rear wing (easy to get) and the wheels/tires (also easy to get).
MrObsessive Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Styling's subjective Dave, I didn't mean to step on anyone's toes............I just really didn't like what they did to it after the 1995-99 car. The '06 was nicer as they cleaned up the front and rear end-----but then they went and cancelled it with no chance of return.............perhaps due to the soon to be intro'd Camaro. I'd liked to have seen a newer RWD version based loosely on the Pontiac G8 (Where's the model of that??) with edgier lines and not so much dang front overhang.

Welly makes a 1/24 diecast of the 2004 Monte Carlo SS. It's nicely proportioned and decently detailed. You can find them on FeeBay pretty easily.

I prefer the ones on my car better, oh and the re done interior is MUCH better than the 00-05 cars but the one thing that bugs me is they went from having the ignition switch on the dash (which I LOVE) back to the steering column .
